Italian Adventures

It's been out of a play boat and into a creek boat as and when I could, in between working in Italy. While working as an outdoor instructor, I have been able to enjoy so many new experiences, including running new rivers and climbing pats of the Alps.

Due to the very ideal location of our centre, kayaking was easily done of an evening. The main section we ran was Leverogne to centre - this is primarily grade 4 with sections of grade 3 in between rapids. It was always incredible to see the sun setting behind the mountains as we floated down the river! The other section we also did was centre down, which is pretty much grade 2/3 with one bigger grade 3 rapid so we only did it the once as part of the rafting competition.

The final (and probably my favourite) section was Avise to Leverogne which we then carried on down to centre. This is essentially a gorge with grade 4 and some grade 5. However, we knew very little about the section beforehand, including being slightly unsure of where the actual get on was. But it all worked out and was an awesome paddle with some huge wave sections, curlers and a drop through two holes.

Paddling the Dora has really excited me to do more creeking and I hope this is an area I can push in the future, and may even lead to some more crazy adventures.
