Hurley Training

The adventure began at around 5 o'clock in the morning, with catching a train (with all my kit, boat and paddles) down to Reading before swapping trains to Maidenhead. There I met Tom Zach who very kindly picked me up and we headed to Hurley!

Although the car park was fairly empty when we arrived, it got busy very quickly so we too quickly got on the water. For a short while, there was only a handful of people in the eddies, but soon they were beginning to fill up.

I began trying spins and roundhouses again as although it was still on three gates the level had dropped slightly a nice the weekend. Before it got too busy, I began trying blunts (mainly on the left shoulder).

However, results varied with some working and some flushing.

The temperature had dropped significantly since during the week, and it meant both fingers and toes were numb for the most part of the day. Despite this, it was warmer on the water than off, so again, I spent almost a whole day on the water.

Even though it was cold, there were plenty of international paddlers on the water, especially as they French and Spanish had now arrived. Everyone now seems to be adapting and throwing huge moves on all gates as well as beginning to link moves.

By three o'clock, we had discovered a heater in the main tent so gathered round there to warm up before heading back before the light faded.
