12 Days of Burners - Baby Face

Day 10

On the tenth day of Burners, we surfed Baby Face, and had a BBQ

Every Friday, Keeners holds a day long competition on Garb, so we knew it was going to be very busy and the line-up long. As lots of us were also very tired, we opted for a slightly shorter paddling day, on McCoy’s rapids and the wave Baby Face.

To get to Baby Face, we had to run McCoy’s rapid, and in doing so, I took an unintentional surf in Phil’s Hole, but paddled out fine, before stopping midway down to try and surf corner wave (however, it was the wrong level). Once at the bottom, we were joined by lots of rafts, also queueing up for a surf.

It was a really good feature to practise some fundamental skills on and also try blunts, and even a helix!

We surfed for like three hours before heading back for lunch, followed by a trip to Walmart. As it was a bit of a rest day, we decided to have a BBQ, as well as going on the bouncy castle, playing Frisbee and having a game of basketball. We even had real smores over a campfire.
